For the purpose of paying Inua Jamii program beneficiaries in March, the government has released Ksh. 2,076,610,000, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection announced on Monday.

A further Ksh. 4,992,500 was paid out for the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) complementary program, according to Principal Secretary for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs Joseph Motari.

In accordance to the PS, beneficiaries will start receiving payments on Monday and will do so via the M-Pesa mobile banking app.

“This started with the orphans and vulnerable children and persons with severe disabilities caregivers who access their stipends by dialling *222#,Older persons cash transfer beneficiaries will continue to receive their stipends through their Inua Jamii bank accounts.” Motari explained.

The Inua Jamii initiative covers the community’s most vulnerable members from hunger and poverty by giving them a stipend.

More than 1.2 million orphans and vulnerable children, senior adults, and those with severe impairments benefit from the program.
