Famous Kenyan actor Charles Ouda, popularly known as “Charlie,” passed away at the age of 38, according to his family.

In a joint statement, Charlie’s family and former BBC journalist Ciru Muriuki pleaded with Kenyans to respect their privacy during the grieving period.

Charlie, a cherished brother, friend, and son, reportedly passed away on Saturday night, February 3.

Although the circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown, his family promised to reveal additional details when the time was right.

“Dear friends and family, it is with great sadness that we share the passing of Charles ‘Charlie’ J.Ouda on the night of February 3, 2024. We appeal to all to give his fiancée Ciru, and the Oudas space to grieve this unfathomable loss. More details will be given in due course,” the joint statement reads. 

Charlie’s TV credits include Count it Out, Changing Times, Makutano Junction, the children’s show Know Zone, and The First Grader.

He was an accomplished voice actor, event manager, show host, and script writer.

In addition, Charlie co-hosted the “undiscovered podcast,” which he and his fiancé Ciru operated.
