Following an accident on Saturday, April 6, along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, at least 5 people  passed away.

There were several injuries and fatalities as a result of the collision of approximately six trucks, according to reports.

Some drivers were forced to spend hours driving on the congested highway as a result of the crash, which also disrupted traffic. Drivers on the route bemoaned the narrow road, which was reported to be a common source of accidents.

The accident’s cause had not been determined at the time this article was published.

Unconfirmed eyewitness reports, however, suggested that the muddy terrain may have contributed to the tragedy by making the vehicles lose control.

Additionally, the misty and hazy weather may have impairing the drivers’ vision.

One of the vehicles was shown in the pictures going viral on the internet to have drifted off the road and toppled, obstructing a portion of the road.

Furthermore, the windscreens and bonnets of the two trucks were damaged in a head-on collision between another truck and a third truck.

Locals and drivers rushed to the scene of the accident to save the lives of the victims.

This occurs at the same time that the nation is still reeling from an uptick in traffic accidents that have left tens of Kenyans dead.

According to information released by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), between January 1, 2024, and April 3, 2024, 1,213 Kenyans perished in traffic-related incidents.
