WeatherMan: Expect Rain to fall throughout March

According to the weatherman’s most recent prognosis, the rains that have been falling for the entire month will persist in several areas of the nation, including Nairobi.

This indicates that although there will be brief dry moments, March will be unusually moist.

The head of the meteorological department, Dr. David Gikungu, predicted that there will be sporadic periods of intense rain in certain locations.

According to him, March is projected to bring above-average rainfall to the majority of the country.

He mentioned that flash floods constitute a serious threat, especially in the coastline region, the low-lying sections of the northern regions, the southeast lowlands, the Central and South Rift Valleys, and metropolitan areas with insufficient drainage.

According to the weatherman, farmers continue to communicate with their local agriculture extension agents to determine the best time and type of plants to plant.

A week after publishing a rain forecast for the entire month of March through May that showed above-average heavy rains, Dr. Gikungu released the particular forecast for March.

Important information about the distribution of rain in the counties can be found in the updated March forecast.

In the highlands of the Rift Valley and the area surrounding Lake Victoria, the rains are predicted to persist throughout the month.

These regions include the following counties: Migori, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, West Pokot, Nandi, Siaya, Kisumu, Busia, Homa Bay, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Bungoma.

In the Central and surrounding regions of the Rift Valley, rain is also anticipated throughout the month; however, there may be a brief period of dry weather during the third week.

Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi counties are all included in this region.

With sporadic pauses, the rains will also persist in the counties of Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, and Taita Taveta.

But in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, the first part of the month will still be sunny and dry.

The northeastern counties of Mandera, Marsabit, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana, and Samburu will see plenty of sunshine and dry weather, although near the end of the month, some of these locations may get scattered rainfall.

Nonetheless, residents in this area should anticipate more rain than the long-term average.

According to Dr. Gikungu, there is a possibility of lightning strikes in the area of Mount Elgon, including Kisii, Kisumu, Nandi, Kakamega, and Bungoma.

He cautioned the people not to seek shelter from the rain beneath trees or next to metal structures.

Kenya will see temperatures that are higher than usual for March despite the rain.

The current El Niño weather phenomenon, which affects worldwide weather patterns and can result in warmer temperatures in some places.

Bitcoin Exceeds $69,000 to Reach Record High

Tuesday saw Bitcoin reach a record high above $69,000, helped by the world’s largest cryptocurrency becoming more tradeable in the face of limited supply.

Bitcoin surpassed the milestone of $68,991 set in November 2021, reaching $69,191.94.

Afterwards, the erratic asset dropped to $65,129.

In the lead-up to and following the authorization of a new class of investment indexed to the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin has experienced an unrestrained surge.

Since Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have demonstrated their extraordinary volatility, regulators and central banks have issued cautions to tiny investors.

Bitcoin’s price has increased by about 50% since January, when it was trading at over $43,000.

But once the cryptocurrency exchange FTX collapsed in November 2022, it fell to $15,000.

Prosecutors called its leader, Sam Bankman-Fried, “one of the biggest financial frauds in American history,” and he may spend up to 110 years behind bars.

In other news, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the CEO of Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, resigned from his position in November after the firm and he entered plea deals on several money laundering offenses.

The popularity of bitcoin is growing despite the scandals.

On Monday, four more suspects were arraigned at the Eldoret Law Courts for allegedly obtaining public sector posts through the use of fraudulent credentials.

The suspects, Jackson Kipkosgei, Eddah Cheptanui Boit, Celestine Cherop Chepsoi, and Bethwel Kipkoech, have been charged by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of forging credentials in order to obtain employment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

They were accused of forging documents, forging academic credentials, speaking false statements, and obtaining public property via deception.

The defendants refuted the allegations and were let free with a Ksh. 100,000 cash bail or a Ksh. 300,000 bond.

These arraignments follow a related incident in which Joash Kirwa, an official of the Ministry of Education, was accused of forging academic transcripts and a degree certificate from Moi University in order to obtain employment at the State Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

On February 15, Kirwa was charged with five counts of forgery for falsifying academic credentials. He was charged and then arraigned at Eldoret Law Courts.

After entering a not guilty plea, he was freed on a Ksh. 200,000 cash bail.

DCI Launches Investigations Into Mysterious Death Of Woman Who Fell From 10th-Floor Apartment

In the Thome area of Kasarani, Nairobi County, a woman died after falling from a ten-story apartment. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are looking into her death.

The DCI officers interviewed the management and residents of the apartment, which serves as both a residential and short-term rental facility, and went through evidence for the majority of Saturday morning.

Photos from the property that show a bathroom and bloody bedsheets are being used by the police to attempt and piece together what happened. Lawrence Gitonga, the man who accompanied the deceased, is recovering from eight stab wounds.

White house apartments on this block in the Thome area of Kasarani, Nairobi, on a Saturday morning Joan Nzomo, 19, fell from this building’s tenth story, and her lifeless body was found after 3:00 in the morning.

Detectives investigating homicides from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrived on the scene with the intention of solving the 3 a.m. incident that occurred in one of the more than 200 units in this building, which houses both short-term and long-term tenants.

Her lover Lawrence Gitonga was found unconscious and suffering from eight stab wounds by the detectives.

To aid in their investigations, the investigating police gathered CCTV footage, personal possessions, and forensic evidence.

Sources close to the investigations claim that on Friday night, Joan—wearing only a red t-shirt—met Lawrence Gitonga at one of the entertainment spots on Mirema Drive in Roysambu.

A few hours later, Lawrence and Joan were spotted dropping off a friend on their way to the White House Apartments. From there, they went to a nearby pub and kept drinking in his car.

The two arrived at the 10th-floor short-stay apartment they had reserved at 3:00 in the morning on Saturday. It is now unclear what transpired in the room.

Images of the scene show bloodstained sheets and smeared blood on the walls and floor of the bathroom; it’s possible that there was a struggle or that the man sought refuge after being stabbed.

The male who was with the woman, Gitonga, was found unconscious and had eight stab wounds. Detectives are keen to learn the precise events that led to her death. Our source claims that the deceased seemed without wounds.

Gitonga was brought to a hospital in Nairobi and is admitted.
