Churchill Ochieng is the new CEO of Safaricom Investment Co-operative (SIC), having been selected by the board.

Ochieng’s more than 25 years of experience in leadership, cash flow management, corporate development, and brand management, among other areas, are crucial in guiding the investment Sacco, according to a press statement issued by SIC on Thursday.

“We are confident that his impeccable track record in banking, telco, fast-moving consumer goods and facility management industries coupled with his proven ability to develop and strengthen management teams to maximize company profitability and efficiency will steer this cooperative to the next growth phase, We look forward to drawing from his immense expertise and insights as we pursue our mission of creating impact through diversified investments.” stated the cooperative’s chairperson Judy Runo.

Ochieng served as Sender Services Limited’s managing director for four years prior to his appointment.

He formerly held the positions of General Manager of Personal and Business Banking at Faulu Kenya Bank, Head of Personal Banking at Guarantee Trust Bank, and Head of Airtel Money and Zonal Business in sales and distribution at Airtel Kenya.

Ochieng has also held positions at Standard Bank Group as Head of Direct Sales for Africa and Barclays Bank of Kenya, which later changed its name to Absa, as Country Head of Sales for Kenya.

He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in commerce and a master’s degree in business administration. At the university, he is also presently working toward a doctorate.

SIC boasts approximately 5,000 members, making it one of the biggest investment Saccos in Kenya.
