In the Samburu North area of Soit Pus, a member of the Samburu County Assembly was shot and killed on Sunday by alleged bandits.

This is the most recent event to occur in the area, which is starting to become inhabitable due to decreased insecurity.

According to police, Angata Nanyekie MCA Paul Leshimpiro was shot and killed at Soit Pus on the Maralal-Baragoi Highway by alleged bandits.

He died from gunshot wounds after being taken to Morijo Dispensary, according to the police.

Chief of Samburu County Police Thomas Ototo confirmed the event and stated that the MCA was ambushed by gunmen while returning home.

He was with his driver, who managed an unharmed escape.

The ward representative’s body has been brought to the mortuary of Samburu County Referral Hospital in anticipation of a postmortem examination.

The MCA was killed a few days after gunmen besieged Angata Nanyekie.

Parts of Soit Pus, Morijo, and Angata Nanyekie have been plagued by banditry for the past month, according to police, as a result of multiple attacks that have targeted locals and even travelers in the area.

According to Ototo, the police were hunting down the suspects who ran away from the crime scene.
