Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have found a car that they believe was used in the kidnapping, murder, and eventual disposal of blogger Daniel Muthiani Benard, also known as Sniper, of Meru County.

The DCI stated in a statement released on Saturday that an intelligence-led operation resulted in the discovery of the car, a silver Toyota Premio, at a residence in Meru County’s Canopy neighborhood.

“The identification and subsequent recovery of the vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio registration number KCR 742N followed thorough forensic analysis of crucial leads, which pointed to a residential place at Canopy area of Kithoka, Meru county,” according to the statement.

The DCI claims that homicide detectives have determined that Vincent Mureithi Kirimi, also known as Supuu, is one of the suspects. He is the driver who rented the car on the day that Sniper was kidnapped and brutally murdered.

On that fatal day, the car was apparently transporting three other passengers, namely Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi, and Boniface Kithinji Njihia, also known as DJ Kaboom.

“Further investigations are ongoing with the Homicide team working expeditiously on the case,” stated to the DCI.

On December 2, 2023, Sniper vanished, and his body wasn’t found for another two weeks.

Later on, five individuals were apprehended in relation to the killing: Franklin Kimathi alias Dudu Ras, Timothy Kinoti alias Timo, Kenneth Mutua Gatiri alias Gasigi, Fredrick Muruiki Kiugi alias Pope, and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali.

[VIDEO] Drama As EACC Detectives Arrest A Police Officer Demanding A Bribe In Kasarani

A police officer stationed in Kasarani was detained by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives on Friday for allegedly soliciting a Ksh.30,000 bribe.

Paul Kamau Mbugua, the suspect, was taken into custody at a liquor store on Lumumba Drive after he demanded a bribe to be released from two brothers he had illegally held and imprisoned at Kasarani Police Station.

The EACC claims that Mbugua failed to enter the brothers’ purported offenses in the station’s occurrence book.

The crying suspect was apprehended by EACC agents and taken to Kilimani Police Station despite his resistance to capture and uproar at the booze store in question.

“The suspect was escorted to Kilimani Police Station where he is currently detained pending further processing today at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station. Detectives confiscated the suspect’s Taurus Revolver Pistol S/No. Q130360 and ammunition, which they later handed over to the OCS EACC Police Station,” a source at the anti-graft agency stated.

EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the arrest and said the Commission had received a complaint concerning the officer on Friday. Since then, the Commission has conducted investigations and taken the suspect into custody.

Court Rules Kenya Police Deployment to Haiti Illegal

The proposed transfer of Kenyan police officers to Haiti, a country in the Caribbean, has been ruled unlawful by the High Court.

The National Security Council is not authorized to send police officers abroad, the court ruled in a decision on Friday.

In October of last year, the National Security Council petitioned Parliament to authorize the sending of Kenyan police personnel to war-torn Haiti as part of a UN-backed security mission. The deployment has now been approved by the National Assembly.

Although the National Security Council had already given its approval for the planned deployment, any use of national security personnel outside of the nation required the approval of Parliament, as stated in Article 240 (8) of the Constitution.

Article 240 (8) stipulates: “The Council may, with the approval of Parliament, (a) deploy national forces outside Kenya for (i) regional or international peace support operations; or (ii) other support operations; (b) approve the deployment of foreign forces in Kenya.”

Parliament approved the plan in the midst of a High Court decision that temporarily halted the deployment until the head of the Third-way Alliance Kenya, Ekuru Aukot, and two other petitioners had their case heard.

Dr. Aukot contends in the petition that the Constitution does not allow for the deployment of the police force outside of Kenya, adding that doing so would be extremely important to the public interest and could only be carried out in compliance with the document’s provisions.

Kenya has committed to sending out 1,000 security guards to fight gang violence, which has been a problem for decades and is marked by frequent killings, kidnappings, and extortion.

Early in October, the UN Security Council authorized the deployment of a multi-nation security support mission under Kenyan leadership to assist the beleaguered Haitian police.

South African gospel artist Kelly Khumalo, accused of orchestrating lover’s death.

A court has been informed that South African gospel singer Kelly Khumalo ordered the murder of football player Senzo Meyiwa, who was her lover at the time.

In 2014, Mr. Meyiwa was shot while attempting to save Ms. Khumalo from armed robbers. 2020 saw five individuals taken into custody.

Lead detective Bongani Gininda conducted “a contractual assassination or hit” on Wednesday, testifying before a Gauteng High Court.

Ms Khumalo’s spokesperson stated that although Ms. Khumalo was unavailable for comment, her “legal team is actively addressing the situation”.

The nation has been engrossed with the trial of individuals who are accused of killing Mr. Meyiwa, a former national football team captain and goalie for the Orlando Pirates.

Following the men’s arrests in 2020, police records were leaked, raising the initial suspicions about Ms. Khumalo’s involvement.

The gospel singer had “no knowledge” of the five people, according to her lawyer at the time, who spoke to local media.

Mr. Gininda informed the court that a suspect had confessed to them that Ms. Khumalo had given them orders to murder Mr. Meyiwa.

Additionally, the main investigator stated that there were “cell phone linkages” between Ms. Khumalo and the accused.

Colonel Lambertus Steyn of the National Cold Case Investigation Unit stated in his testimony from the previous year that Ms. Khumalo had spoken to at least two of the accused before to Mr. Meyiwa’s death.

Furthermore, Ms. Khumalo’s phone contained a picture of cash in a clear bag, which was also discovered on one of the suspects’ phones.

The admissibility of the confession remarks is currently being determined by the court. According to two of the accused, intimidation was used to get them to confess.

Together, Ms. Khumalo and Mr. Meyiwa had a single child.

However, Mr. Gininda stated that the two had a falling out.

He claimed Ms Khumalo “hated him and wanted to get rid of him”.

He went on to say that early in 2013 “communication records” between Ms. Khumalo and her sister indicated that she intended to remove him from office.

Maddison ready to make Spurs’ return against Manchester City

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, says James Maddison might make his FA Cup comeback against Manchester City on Friday.

Madison, a midfielder, hasn’t played since November due to an ankle problem.

While Erling Haaland of City is nearing his comeback but is not yet eligible, Tottenham defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are fit.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host Spurs and City in the fourth-round match at 20:00 GMT.

“There aren’t too many in the league that are like him,” stated Postecoglou of Maddison.

He added: “It just helps our ability to prepare for the challenges ahead. We have been through a difficult period.”

With 14 goals this season, Haaland is tied with Mohamed Salah of Liverpool for the most goals scored in the Premier League. However, a foot ailment has kept Haaland off the field for City since early December.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, stated on Thursday that although “he is close,” he is still not ready for tomorrow. “He trained, is not perfect and we will wait a little bit more.”

Goalkeeper Ederson and defender John Stones are available for selection, although Switzerland’s Manuel Akanji is remains out for City.

Kabarak University student stabbed to death near school

A Kabarak University nursing student was discovered dead on the road on Friday morning; the situation is being looked into by detectives.

Derrick Malumasa Sabuni, a 23-year-old third-year student, was discovered bleeding on the Nakuru-Mogotio road close to the Kampi Ya Moto commercial center, according to the police.

His university colleagues reported to the police that they had discovered him on the road, scooped him up, and hurried him to the Kabarak University medical center, where he was declared deceased.

According to authorities, the deceased suffered a severe stabbing wound to his stomach that was caused by an unknown individual using a sharp object.

The murder’s motivation is still a mystery.

As part of their investigation into the murder, detectives were anticipated to return to the scene on Friday.

Pep Guardiola Blasts Ceferin over Allegations of Financial Probe

Aleksander Ceferin, the President of UEFA, stated that the Premier League winners should have been punished by the European Football Association for their financial transgressions. This angered Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

For violating its Financial Fair Play regulations, UEFA barred City from European competition in February 2020 for a two-year period. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later overturned the punishment.

Certain charges against City were deemed “not established” by CAS, while other charges were determined to have expired.

Ceferin told the Daily Telegraph on Thursday, “We know we were right,” expressing his continued insistence that his organization was correct. If we didn’t believe we were correct, we wouldn’t make a decision.

The Slovenian spoke while City, accused of 115 violations of the profit and sustainability regulations of their local competition, awaited a Premier League tribunal.

According to Guardiola, Ceferin had disrespected City’s current process with the Premier League by coming forward now.

“As the lawyer that he is, as president of UEFA, he should wait – and after do whatever he wants. He has to respect it and he has to wait. He has a lot of jobs to do at UEFA. A lawyer should respect the procedure. He knows we have the right to defend ourselves,” he told reporters on Thursday.

Erling Haaland, the striker, will not be available for City’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Tottenham on Friday.

Yet after missing nearly two months due to a foot ailment, the Norway striker is very close to making a comeback.

“He is on the verge of coming back. For Friday he is not ready but he is close. The training camp was good, he trained some sessions. The last few days he’s trained but it is not perfect and we will wait a little bit more,” Guardiola said.

After suffering an ankle injury, John Stones is back in the mix, while Manuel Akanji, fellow defender, is still out. After leaving City’s most recent match against Newcastle with a limp, goalie Ederson is also healthy.

Without even managing to score a goal, City has lost all five of their prior visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“That is the reality, (and) shows) how tough it is for us,” Guardiola added, urging the FA Cup holders to break their duck.

Governor Nassir: Raila’s 2027 Presidential Candidature Is ‘Not Negotiable’

The head of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, Raila Odinga, has received the endorsement of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir for the president in 2027.

Speaking on Thursday at Ukunda during the ongoing ODM party membership recruitment operation, Nassir declared that it was not debatable and insisted that the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition run for president a sixth time.

The newly appointed governor contended that since Mr. Odinga has experience in politics and has been tried and tested, he is the best person to improve Kenyans’ life and replace President William Ruto.

“I have seen the news headlines ‘Raila hints at the presidency for 2027’…I know you have not made me the ODM spokesperson or your spokesperson, I speak for the people of Mombasa, the Coast and Kenyans. We are not asking, we are not requesting or pleading, we the people of Kenya are commanding you to vie for presidency for 2027. You must be on the ballot in 2027,” he said.

Governor Nassir continued by praising the former premier for his political career’s patriotism and restating that he is the right choice to depose Ruto and improve the nation’s situation.

“We have not seen anyone who has been able to put aside his own ambitions and put forward the needs of Kenyans. If there is someone who should be prayed for, it is Odinga,” he stated.

The governor’s comments come amid alleged coalition ambiguity around Azimio, the opposition alliance’s nominee for flagbearer in the next elections.

Wiper leader and co-principal of Azimio, Kalonzo Musyoka, has been promoting his own candidacy in an attempt to win over Mr. Odinga and the other co-principals.

On the 2027 contest, Mr. Odinga has kept silent, insisting that the leaders will ultimately unite behind a single candidate and that there is no alleged divide within the coalition.
