A man has been apprehended in connection with the murder of his girlfriend at their residence in the Githurai 44 area of Nairobi.
The accused reportedly transported the deceased to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead while receiving treatment following the incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 27.
Authorities stated that the body of Josephine Wanjala exhibited a head injury.
According to police, a hammer and an iron bar, believed to have been utilized in the commission of the murder, were discovered in the residence.
Nairobi police commander George Sedah indicated that the suspect had hurried the woman to the hospital, claiming she sustained injuries during a confrontation at their home.
She succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical attention, prompting the police to be notified at the medical facility.
Law enforcement reported that blood was flowing from her nose and ears.
Subsequently, the suspect guided the police to the residence, where they found a pool of blood on the floor adjacent to the bed.
Additionally, police retrieved blood-stained bedding and a mattress.
An iron bar and a hammer, both bearing bloodstains, were also collected from the crime scene.
The body has been transferred to the City morgue for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in custody for further investigation.
