According to police sources, the prison officer committed suicide inside her rented house at Tumaini Estate, Kitale.
On Sunday, Linda Machuma Wafula’s body was found after her neighbors complained about a bad smell emanating from her residence.
Ms. Wafula was last seen at her house on February 1, according to a police complaint, and her body wasn’t found until Sunday.
After learning of the reports, officers went to her residence on Sunday and found her body leaning against a double-decker bed.
It was found that the electric cord they said she used was still tied around her neck.
No suicide note was found in her residence during a later investigation; crime scene detectives investigated the scene and her body was taken to the mortuary of the Cherangany Nursing home.
