A truck carrying building supplies crashed into kiosks at P. I. Trading Center on the Mwea-Embu highway, seriously injuring a woman and totaling two motorcycles.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck burst one of its tires as it was moving from Mwea to Embu after hitting a pothole. Motorcycles were destroyed and the woman was struck when the truck’s driver lost control and drove off the road.
Jane Wangeshi claims that because the lorry was moving fast, the woman by the side of the road was unable to flee and was struck by the vehicle.
She claimed that after the lorry slammed into their motorcycles, boda boda riders were able to hop off.
The woman was rushed to Embu level five hospital, where she is still undergoing treatment.
According to Wangeshi, there has been a rise in traffic accidents on the Embu, Mwea, and Makutano roads because of the poor condition of the road caused by large potholes.
Locals now want KENHA to fix the highway quickly in order to prevent future collisions and casualties.
