Kahiro village in Kirinyaga County is in shock following the discovery of a murdered 60-year-old woman’s body 500 meters from her homestead in a coffee plantation.

Esther Wambui Muthike was murdered and ditched in the coffee plantation by unidentified individuals while she was returning home from a Kaharo trading center, according to Karia Sub-location Assistant Chief Joseph Muriithi Githinji.

“I was informed by my two elders and came here immediately and saw the lifeless body of a Wambui whom I know well. The suspects wanted only to kill because even her Ksh.1500 is still in her pocket,” Chief Muriithi stated.

Mary Wamwirua, the deceased’s sister, claims that they learned of her demise from their neighbor, who discovered her body while she was out gathering firewood the night before.

Locals in Kahiro claim that there have previously been incidents in the region.

The body of the deceased was brought to the mortuary at Kerugoya Hospital to await a postmortem.

Moses Koskei, the commander of Ndia Sub-County, verified the incident and stated that police were looking into it. He asked the public to provide law enforcement with helpful information.
