A tragic road accident claimed three lives on Tuesday evening after a Kenya Bus Service (KBS) bus crashed into a stalled lorry along the busy Yaya–Kawangware Road in Nairobi.
The collision happened in the Bangladesh area, near the Kawangware–Yaya route, leaving several passengers injured and chaos in its wake.
According to police at the Kilimani Police Station, the lorry had been stationary on the road since midday—with no warning signs or reflectors alerting oncoming traffic. Preliminary investigations point to this as a key factor in the fatal crash.
“The bus rammed into the lorry from behind, resulting in multiple casualties,” a police report stated.
Emergency responders rushed several injured passengers to nearby hospitals, while the three fatalities were confirmed at the scene.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine responsibility and clarify the exact sequence of events.
In the meantime, police are urging all motorists to exercise extreme caution—especially around stalled vehicles on busy roads—and to ensure that any stationary vehicle is properly marked with reflective signs or hazard lights to prevent similar tragedies.
