Othaya, NYERI County — Police in Othaya, Nyeri County, are investigating the death of a 65-year-old man whose body was discovered in his home on Saturday, nearly a month after he was last seen by neighbours.

The deceased, Peter Ndirangu, was found lying on his bed in a partially closed house. His brother, who was grazing cows nearby, was drawn to the scene by a foul smell. Upon investigating, he found rotten food on the table and Ndirangu’s body. Police were called and moved the remains to a mortuary for a postmortem to determine the cause of death.

Authorities noted that Ndirangu lived alone and that his family had never reported him missing. They have urged relatives and friends to promptly report cases of missing persons to prevent such tragedies.

“The family never reported he was missing and did not bother to look for him,” a police officer stated, adding that investigations are ongoing.
