For the fiscal year 2024–2025, gaming companies and betting shops may now submit applications to renew their licenses.
On Wednesday, the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) urged all operators to adhere to the new gaming management system even while it continues to be rolled out.
According to the Board, this automation will streamline the Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) revenue collection process in compliance with a government order.
BCLB instructed all betting companies to quickly switch to the new gaming management system at a stakeholder engagement, with an emphasis on compliance.
“We have been doing applications and processes manually for years but now the time has come when we need to automate our processes. So in terms of moving forward we require that our operators process their applications through the online system which is the gaming management system.” BCLB CEO Peter Mbugi said.
The order is being issued in the wake of claims that just 97 of the 180 licensed operators have linked their systems with KRA to allow for real-time industry monitoring. The goal of this integration is to improve regulatory control at KRA and stop revenue leaks.
The licensing renewal process for the fiscal year 2024–2025 has also been started by the regulatory body for sports betting. This occurs concurrently with the board putting crucial adjustments into place to expedite activities in the gaming sector.
