Tuesday morning, at Chaka on the Nyeri-Nanyuki highway, a runaway lorry ran over one of the Kenya National Highways Authority’s (KeNHA) officers, killing it and injuring another.

Traffic commandant Mary Omari claims that after traffic and KeNHA officers flagged down the truck and placed a makeshift weighbridge at the scene, the driver refused to stop, which resulted in the accident.

It is reported that the motorist ran over the two officers as he sped passed the scene.

A manhunt has been initiated, according to Commandant Omari, in an effort to track down and capture the offender.

At a nearby hospital, the injured cop is receiving medical attention for his injuries.

Furthermore, Omari has cautioned drivers to drive with extreme caution and issued a warning against irresponsible driving.
