On Monday, four more suspects were arraigned at the Eldoret Law Courts for allegedly obtaining public sector posts through the use of fraudulent credentials.
The suspects, Jackson Kipkosgei, Eddah Cheptanui Boit, Celestine Cherop Chepsoi, and Bethwel Kipkoech, have been charged by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of forging credentials in order to obtain employment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
They were accused of forging documents, forging academic credentials, speaking false statements, and obtaining public property via deception.
The defendants refuted the allegations and were let free with a Ksh. 100,000 cash bail or a Ksh. 300,000 bond.
These arraignments follow a related incident in which Joash Kirwa, an official of the Ministry of Education, was accused of forging academic transcripts and a degree certificate from Moi University in order to obtain employment at the State Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
On February 15, Kirwa was charged with five counts of forgery for falsifying academic credentials. He was charged and then arraigned at Eldoret Law Courts.
After entering a not guilty plea, he was freed on a Ksh. 200,000 cash bail.
