The Emmanuel Kirima family is at the Kilungu Level Three Hospital in a somber, bewildered, and furious state.
It’s still not quite real that their 15-year-old son passed away. On January 15, Emmanuel enrolled at Kilungu Boys High School in Form One. Ten days later, the school administration called Emmanuel’s parents to ask them to come to the mortuary at Kilungu and identify their relative’s body.
The news and the possibility that the situation involving their son’s health was not handled properly have devastated the parents, according to them. Emmanuel’s family was initially informed that he had been sent to the hospital on account of a stomach complaint.
However, the family claims that upon examining Emmanuel’s body, facial injuries were apparent, particularly on his forehead. Before he was sent to the hospital, the school refused to tell the family if the injuries were from a fight, a fall, or bullying.
The 15-year-old student was transferred to Kilungu Level Three Hospital after being taken to a private hospital, where he was declared dead, as reported by Citizen TV.
Goeffrey Muema, the head teacher at Kilungu Boys High School, claims that they followed protocol when the student became unwell. He claims that when the hospital notified the school administration that the youngster had passed away, they were equally shocked.
In order to determine the cause of death, a post-mortem will be performed on Monday at Chiromo Mortuary, where the family has chosen to move the body.
Meanwhile, detectives have started looking into what caused the tragedy.
