The County Government of Uasin Gishu has been issued with a 21-day strike notice by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) for violating the terms of its signed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah, speaking to the media in Eldoret town, charged that the county government management was frustrating consultants by paying salaries equivalent to those of interns.

According to Atellah, the county government has also ceased paying medical professionals’ salaries, leaving them to make ends meet while they are at work.

In addition, he stated that they are in the process of finalizing a new CBA with the doctors at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) because of issues they are facing, including discrimination and having been under the same contract for an excessive amount of time.
