A 70-year-old man is being held by the police on suspicion of killing his 32-year-old son in Kirinyaga during a land dispute.
Francis Njagi, the suspect, was taken into custody in connection with the incident that took place in Gwama village within Karumandi Ward, according to Gichugu police chief Johnson Wachira.
It is reported that the suspect, who is being detained at the Kianyaga police station, got into a fight with his son James Mwobe about a plot of land.
The suspect’s wife, Irene Njagi, stated that their son intended to plant macadamia trees on the land.
After the fight became more heated, the suspect stabbed his son, who was later declared dead at the Kianyaga Sub County Hospital.
“After the mother of the deceased called in a distress, a neighbor rushed him to the hospital,” the police reported.
The deceased body was taken to the Kerugoya Mortuary. The suspect will be arraigned following the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.
