In Migori County, authorities have taken a middle-aged woman into custody for allegedly scalding her husband with hot water and subsequently assaulting him with a machete in Kadar-Posi village, Uriri.
According to North Kanyamkago area chief Silvance Owiti, the incident occurred on Saturday night around 9 p.m., when Emilly Otieno attacked her husband, Evance Odhiambo, inflicting severe burns and cuts.
Owiti reported that the suspect first doused her husband with hot water before grabbing a machete and striking him multiple times on the head and other areas of his body.
Neighbors quickly transported the injured man to Migori Level Four Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care, while the suspect remains in police custody.
“We are still trying to determine the reasons behind the attack, but initial investigations suggest that the woman may have acted out of jealousy upon hearing rumors of her husband’s plans to take a second wife,” the chief stated.
