Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has affirmed that the upcoming State visit by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands is proceeding as planned.

This announcement follows a wave of approximately 300 emails sent by Kenyans to the Dutch government, requesting the cancellation of the three-day visit due to the current situation in the country.

The Royal House of the Netherlands has indicated that the visit is being conducted at the invitation of President William Ruto and signifies a pivotal moment in the bilateral relations between the two nations.

In a press conference on Monday, Spokesperson Mwaura criticized Kenyans for utilizing social media to disseminate misinformation, cautioning those who seek to prevent foreign dignitaries from visiting the nation to refrain from such actions.

“The King of the Netherlands will indeed visit our country, and we have taken all necessary measures to ensure a successful visit. We must not undermine our national interests,” he stated.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also reiterated that the visit will proceed, as it will provide a platform to address the alleged violations attributed to Ruto’s administration.
