The revocation of Dr. Humphrey Kimani Njoroge’s appointment as Chairman of the Moi University Council has been executed by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba.
In a Gazette Notice issued on January 17, CS Ogamba announced the appointment of Professor Noah Midamba as the new chair of the council.
Additionally, four other council members have been dismissed from their positions.
These members include Prof. Sarah Samiji Momanyi, Christopher Khaemba, Eusilah Jepkosgei Ngeny, and Susan Amlango Aletia.
In response to these dismissals, the CS has appointed four new members to the council.
The newly appointed members are Prof. Ronald Wasike, Dr. Mercy Nyambura Kanyara, Dr. Edward Sambili, and Ann Waceke Makori.
CS Ogamba stated in the Gazette Notice that “the new appointments take effect from January 17th, 2025.”
During his visit to the university in December of the previous year, CS Ogamba expressed his commitment to implementing significant changes at the institution to address its ongoing challenges.
“Moi University is currently facing serious issues,” Ogamba remarked.
Two weeks ago, President William Ruto also visited Uasin Gishu County, indicating that the government is actively working to restore stability at the university.
He mentioned the establishment of a committee tasked with investigating the challenges at Moi University and proposing solutions to the issues confronting the institution.
