On Saturday night, a tragic accident occurred in the Olonini area along the Narok-Bomet highway in Narok County, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to 26 others.
Authorities reported that a school bus from Mesabisabi Secondary School was traveling from Narok to Bomet when it collided with a matatu from Narok Line Services, which was approaching from the opposite direction.
The incident took place during heavy rainfall, and it has been alleged that the bus driver was overtaking recklessly, which contributed to the crash with the oncoming matatu.
Three passengers in the matatu were pronounced dead at the scene, while three additional individuals succumbed to their injuries at Ololunha Hospital.
According to police, 16 passengers sustained serious injuries, and 10 others suffered minor injuries. All the injured were transported to Narok County Referral Hospital, where the bodies of the deceased were also taken for preservation.
Notably, the bus driver was among the survivors of this unfortunate event.
