The Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has declared a decrease in the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene following its recent monthly price assessment.
On Saturday, EPRA announced that the new prices for December will see Super Petrol drop by Ksh.4.37, while Diesel and Kerosene will each see a reduction of Ksh.3.
“During the review period, the maximum allowable pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will decline by Ksh.4.37/litre, Ksh.3.0/litre, and Ksh.3.0/litre respectively,” EPRA stated.
“The prices include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in accordance with the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the updated excise duty rates adjusted for inflation as stipulated in Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.”
As a result of this review, the price per litre in Nairobi will be Ksh.176.29 for petrol, Ksh.165.06 for diesel, and Ksh.148.39 for kerosene.
In Mombasa, the prices will be Ksh.173.05 for super petrol, Ksh.161.82 for diesel, and Ksh.145.15 for kerosene.
The Authority indicated that these new prices will come into effect at midnight.
EPRA noted that this marks the second consecutive reduction in fuel prices, attributed to lower landed costs of fuel products in November.
“The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol fell by 4.46% from US$641.14 per cubic metre in October 2024 to US$612.53 per cubic metre in November 2024; Diesel saw an increase of 5.76% from US$608.61 per cubic metre to US$643.69 per cubic metre, while Kerosene rose by 1.87% from US$648.15 per cubic metre to US$660.30 per cubic metre during the same timeframe,” EPRA added.
