Authorities in Mombasa County have apprehended two suspects believed to be responsible for a series of violent robberies across the coastal region.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported on Tuesday that 22-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim Shaban and 19-year-old Abdulaziz Ali Ogutu were discovered in their hideout in Utange village.

According to the DCI, the suspects are thought to be connected to a range of attacks involving machetes, including a particularly brutal robbery that resulted in a fatality on July 18, 2024.

They are also linked to three additional robbery incidents that occurred on September 14, 2024, in the areas of Majengo, Makupa, and Tononoka.

Authorities reported that the two individuals were in the process of organizing their next assault.

Among the items discovered at their residence were a machete, three knives, two various mobile phones, two backpacks, and an identification card that belonged to a man named Yusuf Amani Yusuf.
