According to authorities, on Thursday, eleven mourners lost their lives when the pick-up truck carrying them home after a funeral collided with a bus in the northern Philippines.

According to Antonio Palattao, the head of police in Cagayan province, there were five more injuries from the collision in Abulug town.

The 23 passengers were uninjured, but the bus’s conductor and driver suffered injuries as well.

The Philippines is well known for having badly maintained roads and loose regulations for public transit.

In the central province of Antique, a bus crashed into a ravine in December, killing seventeen people.
