Motorists and households have received a boost after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a reduction in fuel prices in its latest monthly review.

According to EPRA, the price of super petrol has dropped by Ksh.2 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have each been reduced by Ksh.1 per litre.

New Fuel Prices in Major Cities

Nairobi

  • Super Petrol: Ksh.182.52 per litre
  • Diesel: Ksh.170.47 per litre
  • Kerosene: Ksh.153.78 per litre

Mombasa

  • Super Petrol: Ksh.180.24 per litre
  • Diesel: Ksh.167.19 per litre
  • Kerosene: Ksh.150.49 per litre

EPRA noted that the revised prices include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and revised excise duty rates adjusted for inflation under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

Falling Import Costs Drive Price Cut

The regulator attributed the reduction to a decline in the average landed cost of imported petroleum products between November and December 2025.

  • Super Petrol: Down 0.10% from US$592.84 (Ksh.76,446.72) to US$592.24 (Ksh.76,369.35) per cubic metre
  • Diesel: Down 4.20% from US$654.24 (Ksh.84,364.25) to US$626.75 (Ksh.80,819.41) per cubic metre
  • Kerosene: Down 8.92% from US$667.05 (Ksh.86,016.10) to US$607.55 (Ksh.78,343.57) per cubic metre

(Exchange rate: 1 USD = Ksh.128.95)

When the Prices Take Effect

EPRA confirmed that the new fuel prices take effect immediately and will remain in force until February 14, 2026, when the next monthly review is scheduled.
