A widow residing in Suna West, Migori County, is seeking assistance after her 17-year-old son was tragically killed due to land disputes on April 14, 2025.
Mary Atieno, who has also been forced to leave her home following this incident, asserts that she has not yet received justice.
She states that the police requested her to pay for the postmortem examination prior to the commencement of investigations and the burial, but she does not have the financial resources to do so.
She continues to face threats from individuals involved in her son’s death, which leaves her feeling hopeless and anxious.
Her son’s remains are still in the morgue, with expenses accumulating each day.
Despite her attempts to seek help from local leaders, Atieno reports that her efforts to secure funds for the burial have been in vain.
