Authorities in Kisii are searching for a group that reportedly assaulted a man to death in Nyatieko village.

The deceased, identified as Justus Omoni, 48, was discovered lifeless following an alleged attack by a community policing group.

This group had intervened during a domestic dispute between Omoni and his wife regarding a structure built on their property.

It was at this point that the group was summoned to mediate the situation and allegedly resorted to physically assaulting Omoni.

As per police reports, they bound him and struck him before leaving him unconscious in a nearby schoolyard.

His family later retrieved him from the location and took him home, where he subsequently passed away.

Law enforcement stated that they were alerted to the scene and transported the body to the mortuary.

A search for the individuals responsible for this incident is currently underway, according to police regarding the events of May 27.

The region has seen a significant number of mob lynching cases, prompting efforts to combat this issue.
