Kajiado County Assembly’s Minority Whip and Purko MCA, Simon Mumeita Saitoti, has tragically passed away.
The 42-year-old leader died at Karen Hospital in Nairobi on Wednesday, where he had been receiving treatment following a minor surgical procedure. Saitoti was admitted to the hospital on February 26, and after the surgery, he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he remained until his death.
Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Justus Ngossor confirmed the news, expressing that the Assembly will take charge of the arrangements for Saitoti’s burial.
“The County Assembly community has lost a brave warrior, a dedicated leader, a dear friend, and a valued colleague. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,” Ngossor stated in a Thursday announcement.
He encouraged the leadership and residents of Purko Ward, as well as the entire county, to unite in support of the grieving family during this difficult time.
Saitoti was elected to the 3rd County Assembly on August 9, 2022, representing Purko Ward in Kajiado Central Constituency under the Wiper Party banner. He also held the position of Minority Whip in the Kajiado County Assembly and was an active member of several committees, including House Business, Roads, Trade, and Rules and Procedures.
