Investigations are currently underway following the tragic suicide of a 14-year-old leaner from Rudacho village in Budalang’i Constituency, Busia County.
Bunyala OCPD Isaiah Mose confirmed the incident, noting that the deceased, a seventh-grade pupil at Nandekere Primary School, had a dispute with his father after arriving home late from the market.
Following a reprimand, the student faced threats of punishment, which ultimately led to his decision to take his own life.
Mose expressed his deep concern regarding the rising number of suicide cases in Budalang’i and urged community members to seek more constructive resolutions to their conflicts instead of resorting to such drastic measures.
This incident marks the third suicide case reported in Budalang’i since the start of the year. The body has been transported to Port Victoria mortuary, where it will await a postmortem examination.
