A man was arrested on Tuesday morning in Huruma, Nairobi, in connection with a human thorax believed to belong to his 19-year-old wife, whose dismembered body has been reported missing for several days, according to local residents. However, it appears that the disappearance had not been officially reported to the authorities.
Following the arrest and subsequent questioning, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that the suspect guided them to his residence, where a search revealed the head, with its eyes removed, along with other dismembered body parts.
According to police reports, the left hand, waist, hip area, and one upper thigh of the deceased were still unaccounted for.
Officers on patrol encountered the suspect around 5 a.m. while he was carrying a suspicious bag. Upon stopping him for a random search, they discovered the thorax of a female, concealed within a cement bag.
During interrogation, the suspect identified himself and asserted that the remains belonged to his 19-year-old wife. He subsequently led the officers to his home, where additional body parts, including the head, were located beneath the bed.
In the single-room dwelling, authorities also recovered a sharp knife submerged in a basin of water, along with clothing soaked in blood, believed to belong to the victim. Furthermore, the floor of the residence exhibited blood stains, indicating that the crime had occurred on the premises.
Detectives from the Starehe DCI have initiated an investigation to locate the remaining missing body parts and to confirm the identity of the dismembered remains. The motive behind the murder has yet to be determined, although police are exploring the possibility of occult practices being involved, which have been identified as a significant factor in various murder cases. The Nairobi regional head of DCI has stated that they are diligently investigating the incident to uncover further details and ensure justice is served.
