Protests in Molo as activist Richard Otieno found dead

Residents of Elburgon, located in the Molo Constituency of Nakuru County, took to the Elburgon Police Station on Sunday in response to the murder of activist Richard Otieno, known as Molo President.

Otieno was assaulted and killed by unidentified attackers on Saturday night while returning home, a mere 200 meters from the police station.

The outraged residents disrupted local business activities on Sunday morning, demanding accountability from law enforcement.

Otieno had been a vocal critic of the government and the local Member of Parliament, Kimani Kuria, accusing them of failing to fulfill campaign promises.

The deceased had previously contested for the Elburgon MCA position in 2022 but was unsuccessful. He was also among those arrested during the Gen Z protests in Molo, where he was accused of leading demonstrations in the area.
