Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced the results of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations on Wednesday.
Last year, a total of 965,512 candidates participated in the KCSE exams, which were conducted across 10,755 centers.
Candidates can view their individual results online via a link on the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) website (https://results.knec.ac.ke). To access their results, candidates must input their index number along with any of their names as registered for the KCSE.
CS Ogamba encouraged candidates experiencing difficulties in accessing their results to contact KNEC using the toll-free numbers 0800724900 or 0800721410.
However, it was observed that the KNEC website was temporarily unavailable immediately following the announcement of the results.
Notably, this year marked the first instance in which female candidates surpassed male candidates in number; 480,310 males and 482,202 females sat for the examination.
A total of 1,693 candidates achieved a grade A, while 246,639 candidates met the minimum university entry requirement of a C-plus or higher, accounting for 25.53 percent of the total. Additionally, 46,889 candidates scored C-minus or above (49.41%), and 605,774 candidates attained D-plus or higher (62.76%).
Furthermore, 840 candidates who were found to have participated in examination irregularities had their results annulled.
“The results of 2,829 candidates suspected of involvement in examination malpractices have been withheld pending the completion of investigations, which are expected to conclude within 30 days from today,” the education minister stated.
