The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is currently investigating political activist Morara Kebaso regarding his purported failure to submit tax returns for an income of Ksh.186 million accrued from five of his enterprises since 2022.
The businesses under scrutiny include Backtent Security Limited, Morara Properties Limited (also referred to as Blacksmith Morara Limited), Luku Fashion, Morara Home Furniture, and Igrow Digital Enterprise.
As reported by the Nation, Morara was notified of the investigation through a communication from the KRA, which indicated that his businesses have either reported no income or have not filed tax returns, despite possessing properties, business interests, and other assets.
Furthermore, the KRA pointed out that funds have been transferred to Morara’s personal bank account, as well as to the accounts of Morara Properties Limited and Morara Home Furniture since 2022.
The authority noted that Morara received these funds in his personal account, primarily through M-Pesa, which were intended to cover expenses related to furniture and interior fittings.
Additionally, the KRA mentioned that Morara Properties and Morara Home Furniture also received payments through M-Pesa Paybill transactions.
