Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilimani have arrested Meshack Kipleting Tarbei, who is suspected of being a serial fraudster and serves as the Director of Motorshop E.A Ltd.
The DCI reports that Tarbei had evaded capture for over a year after allegedly defrauding numerous individuals of their savings.
Operating from an office that was previously situated at Marsabit Plaza along Ngong Road, Tarbei reportedly shut down his business unexpectedly, prompting at least nine victims to lodge complaints at the Kilimani Police Station.
“Following the receipt of these complaints, detectives initiated a search for the suspect, who was located at his hideout in King Serenity Estate in Rongai. He was subsequently escorted to the DCI Kilimani offices for processing in anticipation of arraignment,” stated the agency.
Tarbei is currently at the DCI Kilimani offices, where he is undergoing processing in preparation for his court appearance.
Authorities believe there may be further victims who have reported similar cases at various police stations across Nairobi, and they are working to consolidate all complaints to ensure that justice is served comprehensively for all affected individuals.
