Authorities in Embu County are conducting an investigation into the unexplained death of an Administration Police (AP) officer, whose remains were found along the Manyatta-Kianjokoma road.

Embu North OCPD Benjamin Kiprono confirmed the details, identifying the deceased as 35-year-old Collins Wafula, who was assigned to the Embu North Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) headquarters.

Kiprono reported that Wafula was last seen departing from an end-of-year celebration at the DCC offices. He was said to be heading towards Kianjokoma, where he subsequently joined a group at Jambo Lodge for drinks. However, the specifics of his activities following that point are unclear.

The officer’s body was discovered early the next morning by a passer-by in the Kavutiri area, who immediately notified the authorities.

“It remains uncertain whether this incident was a hit-and-run or if the officer was killed elsewhere and his body disposed of on the road,” stated Kiprono.

The OCPD has called upon residents who may possess any information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding Wafula’s death to come forward and assist in the police investigation.
