The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a partial closure of Kipande Road in Nairobi for a duration of at least three days.
This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of a cross culvert on the road.
KeNHA has informed the public that Kipande Road will be partially closed, with traffic diverted to Ngara Road. The closure is scheduled to begin on Friday, December 27, 2024, and will last until Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
The purpose of this closure is to allow for the installation of the cross culvert at Kipande Road, thereby ensuring a seamless connection in accordance with the Authority’s mandate, as stated in their public notice.
During this period, all traffic will be redirected through the Embu-Nairobi Highway/Prof. Wangari Maathai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, and Kolobot Road as alternative routes.
KeNHA has also advised motorists to exercise caution in the vicinity of the work zones and to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan.
This announcement follows a recent notification from KeNHA regarding the closure of a section of the Southern Bypass for the next two weeks.
This closure will impact both sides of the road from the Ole Sereni Interchange to the Ngong Road Interchange.
According to KeNHA, this measure is intended to facilitate the rehabilitation of the expansion joints of all bridges along the affected section.
Additionally, it will allow for the reconstruction of the concrete pavement of the Virtual Weighbridge.
The Authority has indicated that this closure will commence on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8 PM and will continue until midnight on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
