A passenger aircraft has reportedly crashed, with 67 individuals on board, according to local authorities.
Initial reports indicate that there are 25 survivors, with 22 of them having been transported to a medical facility, as stated by Kazakhstan’s emergency ministry.
The aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, ignited upon descent near the city of Aktau; however, officials confirmed that the fire has been extinguished.
The cause of the crash remains undetermined at this time.
The Embraer 190 aircraft was carrying 62 passengers and 5 crew members, as reported by the transport ministry.
Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 was traveling from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Russia. Reports suggest that the flight was redirected due to foggy conditions.
