Authorities are actively searching for a middle-aged man suspected of murdering his 3-year-old stepson in Suna East, Migori County.
Assistant Chief Daniel Osika reported that the individual, identified as Josephat Nyabioya, allegedly took the child’s life shortly after a dispute with his wife, Juliet Nyaboke.
The suspect, who is not the biological father of the two children, had been cohabiting with their mother for a year.
Osika mentioned that the suspect’s daughter recounted how her stepfather instructed them to enter the house following the nighttime altercation.
He subsequently locked them inside and departed. Fearing for their safety, she managed to escape through a window, leaving her brother behind.
It is alleged that the man later killed the boy before fleeing the scene.
Osika indicated that the child’s body was found by his mother, who returned home in the morning with the intention of reconciling with her husband after their earlier disagreement.
The area chief noted that they had to force open the door to discover the boy’s body on the floor, covered with clothing.
