A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being swept away while attempting to cross a flooded river in Homa Bay County.
The deceased, a Grade 7 student from Olasi in Ndhiwa, represents the most recent victim of the persistent heavy rainfall affecting the area.
The incident transpired when the boy, who was enrolled at Oridi Primary School, attempted to navigate the swollen River Ambasa.
As reported by Area Assistant Chief James Owiti, the boy was with his two siblings at the time of the incident.
Despite their urgent attempts to rescue him, they were unable to overcome the force of the swift current.
The Assistant Chief has called upon government agencies to intervene and assist in the search operation for the recovery of the boy’s body.
