In Kirengero, Subukia, Nakuru County, authorities discovered the body of a 35-year-old woman, Damaris Njeri, hanging from the rafters of her home, in what is suspected to be a suicide.
The incident occurred in Jumatatu Village, where her husband, concerned after she had been missing for several hours, initiated a search that led to the grim discovery.
Upon finding her, he noted that there were no visible injuries on her body.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, and the motive remains unclear as they transported the body to the mortuary.
There has been a concerning rise in suicide cases, prompting calls for action to tackle this issue.
The government has stated that measures are being implemented to combat this growing problem.
Law enforcement officials report that the frequency of such incidents is alarming, with as many as two cases being recorded daily.
According to the World Health Organization, contributing factors to these tragedies include unemployment, bereavement, academic pressures, legal and financial challenges, as well as issues like bullying, prior suicide attempts, family history of suicide, substance abuse, and mental health disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder.
