An 88-year-old man was discovered murdered on his farm in Butula, Busia County.
Raphael Echesa Sunia was found deceased in his compound long after the incident occurred on November 24.
Authorities reported that they received information indicating the victim was attacked and brutally beaten by a neighbor while working on his farm for reasons that remain unclear.
He suffered from severe chest pain, shoulder swelling, and a laceration on his forehead, and was transported to Bungoma County Referral Hospital, where he ultimately died from his injuries during treatment.
The body of the deceased is currently at the hospital’s mortuary, pending a postmortem examination.
Police have visited the scene and announced that efforts to locate and apprehend the identified suspect are underway.
The suspect is currently in custody for questioning regarding the murder.
