Two brothers and an activist, who disappeared on August 19, 2024, amidst anti-government protests in Kitengela, have been located safe in Kiambu County. Faith Odhiambo, the president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), reported that siblings Jamil and Aslay Longton were discovered abandoned in Gachie, Kiambu County.

“I have been informed that Jamil Longton and his brother Aslam were left at the Gachie border of Kiambu and Nairobi by their captors. Every prayer and effort made a difference. We thank God for their safe return!” she shared on her X profile.

In a video posted on the same platform, the brothers recounted their terrifying experience and expressed gratitude for the support they received from Kenyans.

“We are thankful to all Kenyans for standing by us. We were abandoned in the bushes of Gachie and had to find shelter at a nearby home to charge our phones and contact our families,” they stated.

The brothers also mentioned that they would be communicating through the LSK president in the future.

Meanwhile, activist Bob Njagi was also found alive in Tigoni, Kiambu County. His father, Longman Njagi, shared exclusively with Hot 96 FM that his son is doing well.

“Late at night, I received a call from officers at the Tigoni police station informing me that my son had been found alive,” Njagi recounted. He added that the activist was picked up from the police station by his brother.

“We thank God for this news. We’ve been praying fervently. We are incredibly grateful,” the father expressed.

This revelation came just hours after the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, affirmed that the National Police Service (NPS) was not detaining the three individuals.
