A middle-aged man has received a 30-year prison sentence for the fatal hacking of another person in Nanyuki, located in Laikipia County.
The individual was tried and sentenced at the Nanyuki High Court for the crime committed on May 19, 2015, in the Kimagandura region of Laikipia.
The prosecution team, comprising Jackson Motende and Esther Kimani, presented compelling evidence that unequivocally established the suspect’s guilt in this heinous act.
“In delivering the sentence, the court noted that the defendant displayed a complete lack of remorse for his actions. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the manner in which he took the victim’s life was exceptionally brutal,” stated the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in a post on X.
“The court also recognized the profound effects of the victim’s death on their family, especially considering that the deceased had been the primary provider.” Justice A.K. Ndungu then announced the sentence, sentencing the defendant to a significant term of imprisonment.
