On Tuesday, Sony announced that on November 7, it will release an improved version of the PlayStation 5 Pro, which will have improved visuals and AI capabilities.
Lead architect for PlayStation Mark Cerny remarked in a video release, “Simply put, it’s the most powerful console we’ve ever built and a worthy edition to the PS5 family.”
The console would retail for $700 (Ksh.90,300) and 800 euros (Ksh.113,936), a greater price than the existing PlayStation 5, according to a caption at the conclusion of a brief message.
This year has been difficult for Sony’s game division; the PlayStation 5 failed to meet sales projections, and the company announced 900 job losses, or 8% of its workforce.
Analysts claim that during the COVID lockdowns, gaming saw a sharp increase in popularity and significant investment.
However, the money has mostly dried up, and gaming companies are experiencing challenges.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad noted that Sony had already released a pro edition of its last system in an attempt to increase sales.
Ahmad noted on X, however, that the PlayStation 4 Pro’s influence was restricted because it was “a premium product tailored for a niche audience”.
