The ongoing power outages in Uriri, Siaya County, have drawn protests from the local community.
Locals told the media that they have been living in a darkness for the past three months.
Residents of Gem Wagai took to the streets to complain that Kenya Power staff had taken the single transformer that was supplying the region.
They carried placards and demanded that the power supplier restore power in the region.
They also mentioned how theft cases had increased as a result of the blackout.
“Electricity is necessary for both our residential and commercial needs. “Our appliances have been inactive for several months,” Christine Achieng expressed regret.
Public buildings like health centers and schools have also been affected.
Residents demanded prompt action, pointing out that Kenya Power has not yet responded to their repeated complaints.
