Following an accident involving the bus they were traveling on near Nyamira Junction, at least ten students sustained injuries.
The accident happened on Sunday at around 6:45 a.m., while the bus was on its way from Nyamira to Kisumu, according to the police.
Four teachers and forty-one students were on board.
When the driver reached the Nyamira Junction area, according to the police, the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to veer off the road to the right side while facing Oyugis and crash into a neighboring building.
“As a result of the impact, the occupants survived injuries as follows; 10 female students were seriously injured, 12 female and two male students were slightly injured and other six students and four teachers escaped unhurt,” police said.
Since then, the injured have received treatment at Kadongo’s Okita Nursing Home before being sent to Nyamira County Referral Hospital for further treatment.
The front bumper of the vehicle had significant damage, according to the police, and the front windscreen was broken.
After arriving on the scene, police took the appropriate measures.
The bus was hauled to the Othoro Police Station and detained for inspection.
