On Wednesday night, there was a drama in Kirinyaga, in the Ngurubani area of Mwea, following the stepmother’s throwing of a seven-year-old kid into the Thiba River.
An elder from the Soweto village , Faith Wanjiru, said that the suspect went up to the Thiba River bridge, grasped her stepson’s hand, and then threw him into the water.
Wanjiru said to the press, “We could not believe it when the woman threw the boy into the river and ran.”
Residents who witnessed the occurrence from across the street struggled to assist the youngster, who was sobbing for help.
“The boy was crying for help from his step-mother saying he thought she was taking him to take supper in a local hotel.’ One witness, John Kinyua, stated,
Dennis Musili, the boy’s father, who showed there immediately after being contacted by the residents, claimed to have left the boy with his stepmother and given her money to buy dinner.
“I divorced with my wife two years ago, at which point I married her. Why did she want to throw the boy into the Thiba River in order to kill him?” stated Musili.
According to Musili, his son attends Grade 2.
‘We took the boy to a local private hospital and he is no longer in danger; I will accompany the boy to my house because I do not have any children while police continue to seek for the wife.’ The elder of the community added, Faith Wanjiru.
