Joseph Kiplagat, Kiptoo’s lawyer, asked to have his client released on a reasonable bond, citing his desire to finish his education as a medical student.
The first accused, for his part, begged the judge to release him on fair bond conditions, citing the fact that he had two children who had completed their form four education and were scheduled to start university in September.
Since their arrest in April, the suspects have been placed under detention at Eldoret GK prison.
Judge Wananda ordered the prosecution to provide copies of the witness statements to the defendants through their legal representation.
In addition, he mandated that the prosecution get a pre-bail report for the accused individuals within a fortnight, upon the hearing of their bond application.
